How to Choose a Furniture Manufacturer in Turkey for Luxury Projects: 10 Checks Before You Order
Partager
Choosing a furniture manufacturer in Turkey for a luxury hotel, villa or residential project should take an afternoon of checks, not a leap of faith.
The questions below separate a partner who will deliver your drawings, finishes and documents from a website with good photos. We publish them because we expect buyers to check us too.
Quick answer: Before ordering, check ten things: who prepares and signs the shop drawings, the company's registrations, evidence that matches your specification, a physical sample, references you can call, a complete quotation, fair payment terms, photographed quality control, the export documents, and a visit or live video from production.
The 10 checks
1. Who is accountable for the drawings and the result
Many serious manufacturers combine their own design and project management with specialised production facilities. What matters is who prepares and signs the shop drawings, who controls quality, and who is contractually responsible for the result. Ask for one named contact and one contract.
2. Registrations, not logos
Trade-registry record, tax number, exporter registration, chamber of commerce membership and platform profiles with a history (for example Europages or Alibaba) are all verifiable. Logos of standards bodies on a website mean nothing without a certificate number and scope behind them.
3. Evidence that matches your specification
For fire doors: classification evidence for the door set you will buy, not for a different door. For EU projects: board declarations showing the REACH formaldehyde limit of 0.062 mg/m³ is met. For hardware: the brand's own declarations.
4. A sample before the project
A finish sample answers the questions that matter: colour accuracy, lacquer quality, edge work and veneer matching. For hotels, ask for a mock-up room; for apartments, a mock-up unit.
5. References you can call
Ask for two completed projects and the name of a person you can speak to. Then call.
6. A complete quotation
Delivery term, lead time, payment terms, packing and exclusions should all be written down. A one-line price is a warning sign; a specification line per item is a good sign.
7. Payment terms that protect both sides
A deposit with the order and the balance before shipment is the market standard for custom work. Be cautious of full payment up front, and equally cautious of a supplier who accepts unusual terms without discussion.
8. Quality control you can see
Photographed inspection of every item before packing, sent to you before the balance is due, is what a working QC process looks like. "We check everything" is not a process.
9. Export documents
Commercial invoice, packing list, the A.TR for EU destinations or an origin declaration for the UK, and a certificate of origin where your country requires one. Missing documents cost days at customs.
10. A visit, or live video from production
Istanbul is a short flight from most European capitals. A one-day visit during production is the cheapest insurance on a large order; if you cannot travel, ask for a live video walk-through or use a third-party inspection service.
Red flags
- Prices far below every other quotation.
- Reluctance to show production or samples.
- Certificates without numbers, scopes or issuing bodies.
- Pressure to pay in full before production.
- A different company name on the invoice than on the website, without explanation.
What we offer buyers who check us
Our trade-registry and export documents, the technical data sheet of the fire door core we use, references you can call, finish samples or a mock-up before production, photographed QC before shipment, a live video walk-through of production on request, and an NDA on request to protect your drawings.
Research on supplier selection in Turkey's furniture industry evaluated suppliers on price, quality, delivery, innovativeness and reliability. The checklist above turns those criteria into questions you can ask before you order.
Frequently asked questions
Is Alibaba Gold Supplier status a guarantee?
No. It is a paid membership with basic business verification; it does not assess quality. Alibaba's Verified Supplier badge involves an on-site audit by an independent inspection company. Use either as one check among ten.
Do you allow factory visits and audits?
Yes, by appointment, in person or by live video.
Will you use our design for other clients?
No. Your drawings stay yours, and we sign an NDA on request.
What documents come with each shipment?
Commercial invoice, packing list, the origin or movement document for your country, and the technical documents agreed in the proforma.
