What Does Bespoke Joinery from Turkey Cost? Price Drivers for Luxury Kitchens, Wardrobes and Doors
Teilen
The first question about bespoke joinery from Turkey is always the price per square metre, and the honest answer is "it depends", which satisfies nobody.
This guide explains what it depends on: the seven price drivers behind luxury kitchens, wardrobes and doors, what a serious quotation must include, and how to compare a Turkish quotation with one from Germany or Italy without being misled by the headline figure.
Quick answer: The price of bespoke joinery is driven by the finish (from melamine up to lacquer and natural veneer), construction, hardware brand, repetition, certification (fire, acoustic, emissions), delivery term and installation. Compare quotations only after converting them to the same delivery term, specification, scope and lead time.
The seven price drivers
| Driver | Lower cost | Higher cost |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Finish | Melamine, HPL | Lacquer, hand-finished natural veneer |
| 2. Construction | Flat-pack carcass, board doors | Assembled units, solid-wood details, concealed frames |
| 3. Hardware | Standard hinges and runners | Named premium brand, push-to-open, pocket doors, electronic locks |
| 4. Repetition | 100 identical wardrobes | 100 different wardrobes |
| 5. Certification | Non-rated, standard boards | Fire-rated doors, acoustic seals, special emission or chain-of-custody boards |
| 6. Delivery term | EXW (ex works) | DDP to site, including freight, insurance and customs handling |
| 7. Installation | Excluded | Supervised or fully installed |
What a serious quotation includes
Every item with a code, quantity, unit price and a specification line: board type and thickness, finish, hardware brand and edge treatment. It also states the delivery term, lead time, payment terms, packing and exclusions such as worktops, appliances, site cutting and waste removal. If a quotation does not show these, the low number is hiding something.
Comparing a Turkish quote with a German or Italian one
Put both on the same basis before looking at the total:
- Same delivery term: convert both to DDP site.
- Same specification: finish, board grade and hardware brand.
- Same scope: worktops, appliances and installation in or out.
- Same lead time: a shorter lead time has a value on your programme.
- Same damage process: who replaces what, and how fast.
Only then compare the totals. Labour-intensive work such as lacquer and veneer is often where the difference between countries is largest.
Currency and price validity
Research on Turkey's furniture industry links exchange-rate movements to the sector's performance. That is one reason serious manufacturers quote in EUR or USD and fix the production price at the proforma. RVK quotations are valid for 10 days; payment is a deposit with the order and the balance before shipment.
Where cheap becomes expensive
- Board grade downgraded without telling you.
- Branded hardware replaced with unbranded copies.
- Fire-door seals or closers "value-engineered" out.
- Freight quoted to the port instead of to the site.
- Documents missing at customs, adding days and storage fees.
We do not do these, and we tell you before quoting when a specification cannot be met at the price you have in mind.
How to get a budget price quickly
Send drawings (or photos and dimensions), quantities, preferred finishes and the delivery address. For early budgeting we can price per type from plans; the final price follows the shop drawings.
Frequently asked questions
Do you price per square metre?
We price per item or per type, with a specification line. A price per square metre is only a budget indicator.
Is there a minimum order value?
The minimum is project-based: a single villa kitchen is a normal order, and lacquered interior doors start from 30 pieces.
Do prices change with exchange rates?
Quotations are in EUR or USD and valid for 10 days; the production price is fixed at the proforma.
Is DDP more expensive than EXW?
The goods price is the same; DDP adds freight, insurance and customs handling, which you would pay anyway under EXW, but with one invoice and no customs work on your side.
