Kitchen cabinet styles: lacquered, shaker, handleless, veneer, melamine
Every photo below is a kitchen we made. Door style, colour, handles and worktop change with each client's choice; the same plan can be built in melamine or in lacquer.
Lacquered shaker kitchen
Framed (shaker) MDF doors in matt or satin lacquer, any colour by RAL or NCS code. The project in the photo has navy lacquer, black bar handles and under-cabinet LED.
Classic and country kitchen
Profiled doors, cornices, glass display cabinets and brass handles. The photo combines white classic doors, a wood worktop and a black stone island.
Handleless modern kitchen
Gola-profile handleless lacquered doors; floor-to-ceiling tall units, aluminium-framed smoked glass wall cabinets and a black stone worktop. The island side panel is wood effect.
High gloss lacquer and glass display
High gloss white doors, a black-framed glass tall unit, in-cabinet and plinth LED, black marble-look splashback.
Lacquer and wood combined
Off-white lacquered doors, walnut-effect open shelf niches, a fluted island panel and a Calacatta-look worktop with matching splashback.
Melamine (MFC) kitchen
Wood-grain melamine doors and carcasses; the economical, hard-wearing choice for hotel kitchens, rental apartments and housing projects. Also produced as flat-pack (RTA, knocked-down) sets. Shown with a stone-look worktop and splashback.
“The kitchen is the heart of a home.”
Volkan Kıyan, RVK Mobilya Dekorasyon
That is why the brand of the hinges, the load rating of the drawer runners, the moisture resistance of the board under the sink and the way the LED is concealed matter as much as the colour of the door. Below we show each one in real photos.

Which kitchen door finish suits you? Lacquer, melamine, PVC foil, high gloss, veneer
For the same kitchen size, lacquered doors cost roughly twice as much as melamine. The right choice depends on budget, intensity of use and the look you want. For a detailed comparison see our lacquered kitchen guide.
| Door finish | Look | Use and care | Price level | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Melamine (MFC, melamine MDF) | Flat door; wood grain or plain colour | Scratch and stain resistant; lifespan depends on the edge banding bond | Economy | Hotels, rental apartments, housing projects |
| High gloss | Glossy, modern | Fingerprints and fine scratches show more | Mid | Modern apartments, office kitchens |
| PVC foil (vinyl-wrapped MDF) | Profiled classic and country doors | Heat deflector strips needed next to ovens and dishwashers | Mid | Homes wanting a classic look |
| Lacquer (painted MDF) | Any colour; shaker, handleless, profiled | Matt surfaces hide fingerprints; damage can be touched up | Mid to high | Villas, residences, boutique hotels |
| Natural wood veneer | Walnut, oak; grain-matched | Real wood; tone changes over time with sunlight | High | Luxury villas, waterside mansions, renovations |
Kitchen cabinet prices 2026 (EXW Istanbul)
Kitchen price depends on the door finish and the square metres of cabinet face. The bands below are our own 2026 quotation levels; only a dated proforma is binding. Prices in USD, excluding Turkish VAT.
| Kitchen type | Indicative price |
|---|---|
| Flat-pack melamine kitchen | From 155 USD per m² of cabinet face; hardware excluded |
| Flat-pack melamine MDF, high gloss, PVC foil or lacquered kitchen | About 200-430 USD per linear metre of base plus wall run; hardware excluded |
| Custom lacquered or veneered kitchen | From about 500 USD per m² of cabinet face; hardware as a separate line |
| Large island kitchen with premium hardware and LED (worktops and freight excluded) | About 11,000-21,000 USD or EUR |
For scale: a 3 m run of base and wall units is about 4.5-5 m² of door face; a complete kitchen is usually 12-25 m². Hardware, worktops, sink and tap, built-in appliances, LED package and freight are written as separate lines on the proforma. See our 2026 prices, lead times and payment guide and our delivered cost to Europe guide.
Research note. In a choice experiment with US consumers, about 50% of the decision on customised furniture was explained by price, 20% by the degree of customisation, 20% by delivery time and 10% by the time spent customising (Lihra, Buehlmann and Graf, 2012, Journal of Forest Economics). That is why our quotes put price, lead time and options on the same page.
Quality is in the details
A kitchen proves itself in use, not in photos. These four frames show where to look.
The LED profile is concealed under the cabinet; light falls on the worktop, not in your eyes.
Corbel leg at the island corner, thick-edge worktop and even door gaps.
Wood veneer niche, LED-lit shelf and built-in oven within the glass tall unit.
Classic profiled doors, gold cup handles and lit glass display cabinets.
Always ask when comparing quotes
- Carcass board: thickness, type and formaldehyde class. Wood-based panels are among the main sources of indoor formaldehyde (Salthammer, Mentese and Marutzky, 2010, Chemical Reviews); in the EU the limit for furniture is 0.062 mg/m³ from 6 August 2026.
- Edge banding: peel strength depends on the material, adhesive quantity, feed speed and temperature; optimised settings raised it by about 8.8% on particleboard and 7.2% on MDF (Koç, Hazır and Şeker, 2025, BioResources).
- Lacquer and varnish: the long-term durability of a varnished wood surface depends on the film's resistance to physical, mechanical and chemical stress (Kaygın and Akgün, 2008). The primer, paint and topcoat build-up should be written on the proforma.
- Hinges and runners: brand, soft-close and drawer load rating.
- Under the sink: moisture-resistant board option and edge banding.
- Packing: module numbers, corner protection, ISPM 15 stamped pallets or crates.
Worktops, islands and splashbacks
We supply the worktop (countertop) in the same order as the kitchen: quartz (brands such as Belenco), natural marble and granite, porcelain and sintered slabs, or solid wood. Islands can have waterfall ends, thick edges, legs or corbels; splashbacks in the same stone as the worktop. For stone options, slab selection and vein matching see our Marble and Porcelain page. For export we cut the worktop to your template dimensions and your local fitter installs it.

Frequently asked questions
How is the price of kitchen cabinets calculated?
By door finish, per square metre of cabinet face or per linear metre of base and wall run. Hardware, worktop, LED and accessories are separate lines. For the same size, lacquered doors cost roughly twice as much as melamine.
What is the lead time?
A custom lacquered or veneered kitchen takes about 45 working days after the deposit and dimension approval. Melamine flat-pack sets are faster. Road transit to Europe is 4-7 days, to Germany 5-8 days.
Can I order a single kitchen?
Yes. There is no minimum for a single custom kitchen going to Europe by road. Overseas orders are consolidated to fill at least one 20 ft container.
Do I need a plan or drawings?
Yes. Quotation and production are based on your or your architect's dimensioned plan and wall elevations; we do not offer a drawing service, we build to your drawings. Once the plan, appliance list and door preference arrive, we price item by item.
Which countries do you ship kitchens to?
Everywhere in Turkey; the European Union (Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Bulgaria), the United Kingdom, the USA, the Gulf states and Africa. Past deliveries include Iraq, the UK, Tunisia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Kosovo and Mauritius.
Do you install?
Projects in Turkey are delivered with installation. We do not install abroad; modules arrive numbered and labelled, and your local team installs with the assembly guide and installation video.
Which hinges and drawer runners do you use?
Two options: Blum (Austria) and Samet (Turkey). Both are soft-close; the difference is shown as a separate line on the proforma.
What are the payment terms?
40% deposit with the order, 60% balance before shipment, by bank transfer (EUR, USD or GBP). Appliances are paid 100% with the order. We do not work with letters of credit. The proforma is valid for 10 days.
Do you make kitchens in inches for the USA?
Yes. We work from plans in inches. For US shipments the boards must be TSCA Title VI / CARB Phase 2 certified; the board we will use is stated in the quote.
Can you quote delivered (DDP) prices?
Our prices are EXW Istanbul. For Europe and the United Kingdom we prepare a door-to-door freight quote on request; RVK is UK VAT registered. For the cost items of a delivered price see this guide.
Is there a warranty?
Yes, 24 months against manufacturing defects.
