Luxury Custom Kitchens from Turkey to the Netherlands and Belgium: Duties, Delivery and Installation
Teilen
Luxury custom kitchens from Turkey now sit on Dutch and Belgian tender lists next to German and Italian names. The reasons are practical: made-to-measure kitchens built from the architect's drawings, lacquer and natural veneer finishes, a lower cost base, and road delivery to Rotterdam, Antwerp or Brussels in days.
This guide covers duties and VAT, delivery, the standards Benelux specifiers ask about and how the process runs with RVK Furniture Decoration, a bespoke kitchen manufacturer based in Istanbul.
Quick answer: Kitchen cabinetry shipped from Turkey enters the Netherlands and Belgium without customs duty when it travels with an A.TR movement certificate under the EU–Türkiye Customs Union. Import VAT (21% in both countries) still applies. Road freight takes days, not weeks, and delivery can be DDP to site.
Duties and VAT
- Customs duty: zero for industrial goods covered by the EU–Türkiye Customs Union, with the A.TR certificate accompanying the shipment.
- Import VAT: 21% in the Netherlands and in Belgium. VAT-registered companies reclaim it through their return; in the Netherlands, companies holding an Article 23 licence can shift import VAT to the return. Ask your customs agent which applies to you.
- DDP option: with delivered-duty-paid terms, you receive one invoice and do no customs work yourself.
Delivery options
| Option | Best for | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Assembled cabinets | Single villas and penthouses | Less site work, more truck volume |
| Flat-pack (RTA) carcasses with assembled fronts | Apartment projects of 20+ kitchens | Several times more kitchens per truck |
| Worktops | All projects | Crated separately; quartz, ceramic or natural stone |
| Delivery term | All projects | EXW, DAP or DDP to site |
Every item is packed with corner protection and individual wrapping, palletised in installation order and labelled by kitchen.
Standards and materials Benelux specifiers ask about
- Formaldehyde: since 6 August 2026, furniture and wood-based articles placed on the EU market must not release more than 0.062 mg/m³ of formaldehyde under REACH (Regulation (EU) 2023/1464). That is half of the old E1 limit. For EU orders we specify compliant boards and include the board maker's declaration.
- Moisture resistance: moisture-resistant boards for sink and dishwasher units.
- Finishes: ultra-matt and high-gloss lacquer in any RAL or NCS colour, natural oak or walnut veneer, HPL.
- Hardware: the brand and system named in your specification.
- Appliances: carcasses built to the exact models on your appliance list, for fully integrated fridges, ovens and dishwashers.
- Worktops: quartz, ceramic and natural stone, cut to template. RVK has supplied 20 Calacatta Gold marble slabs for a kitchen project in Los Angeles.
Research on the US furniture industry found kitchen cabinetry to have the highest level of mass customisation of the sectors studied, which is why made-to-measure is the norm, not the exception, in this category.
How the process runs
- You send plans (DWG or PDF), the kitchen layout or specification, quantities and the delivery address.
- We return a proforma with unit prices, lead time and delivery terms. Payment: a deposit with the order, the balance before shipment.
- Shop drawings and a finish sample go to you for approval. Nothing is cut before sign-off.
- Production and photographed quality control before packing.
- Shipping with the A.TR, packing list and commercial invoice.
- Installation by your fitters from our drawings, or on-site installation organised per project.
Single villas and private homeowners
A single villa kitchen is a normal order. We work with your architect, or directly with you, on the drawings, and villa kitchens can ship assembled to reduce installation time. RVK has produced a lacquer kitchen and wooden doors for a villa in Bristol, UK.
Frequently asked questions
Do you deliver to Belgium and Luxembourg as well as the Netherlands?
Yes. Antwerp, Brussels and Luxembourg are on the same road route as Rotterdam.
Can you build a kitchen designed by a Dutch or Belgian studio?
Yes. We build from the studio's drawings and return shop drawings for the architect's approval before production.
Which finish should I choose for a contemporary villa kitchen?
Ultra-matt lacquer is widely specified for contemporary kitchens; ask for an anti-fingerprint top coat. For warmth, combine lacquered base units with veneered tall units or islands.
How is a damaged panel handled?
Every item is photographed during quality control before packing, transport is insured, and replacement panels are made and shipped from the same drawings.
