Short answer. Boutique hotel furniture is the casegoods and joinery of a small hotel, in this guide one with 10 to 60 rooms: headboards, bedside tables, wardrobes, desks, minibar units, luggage benches, vanity units and wall panelling, made to the dimensions of each room type and, in converted buildings, often of each individual room. RVK Mobilya Dekorasyon makes this furniture in Turkey to your interior designer's drawings, under RVK's own production management and quality control, and ships it flat-packed, numbered and labelled by room number. Prices are EXW Istanbul; payment is 40% with the order and 60% before shipment. We produced the wooden furniture for a 20-room boutique hotel in Port Louis, Mauritius, and shipped it by sea.

Why boutique hotel furniture cannot be standard

What separates a boutique hotel from a chain hotel is design, atmosphere and personal service; Rogerson (2010) describes boutique hotels as businesses built around exactly that experience. Lim and Endean (2009) examine UK boutique hotels through their aesthetic and operational characteristics and argue that the sector needs a clearer definition. Our conclusion: in a boutique hotel, the room is the brand. A uniform room set picked from a catalogue cannot carry it.

Bitner's (1992) servicescape framework argues that the physical setting of a service shapes the behaviour of guests and staff alike. In a hotel room, most of that physical setting is furniture: the headboard a guest leans against, the wardrobe opened every day, the vanity unit used every morning.

The practical side points the same way. Boutique hotels often open in converted townhouses, period buildings and listed properties, where two rooms are rarely the same size. Mass-producing standard room packages makes sense for hundreds of identical rooms. A boutique hotel needs small quantities, dimensions that change from room to room, and one design language throughout.

What we make for a boutique hotel

  • Guest room: headboard panel, bedside tables, wardrobe or open hanging niche, desk or console, minibar unit, luggage bench, TV panel.
  • Bathroom: wall-hung or floor-standing vanity unit with a moisture-resistant carcass, mirror cabinet; marble, porcelain or sintered stone tops on request.
  • Corridors and doors: wall panelling and boiserie, skirting, complete room door sets with frame and architrave.
  • Public areas: reception desk, lobby panelling, restaurant and bar joinery.
  • Outdoors: timber pergolas and decking.

LED strip lighting in headboards and wardrobes, and metal details such as luggage bench frames, can be added to the quotation. Upholstered seating, beds and mattresses, curtains and light fittings are either listed as separate items or clearly excluded. Our full service: bespoke furniture for hotels, villas and luxury apartments.

A note on room doors: our standard interior doors are not fire-rated. If your project requires fire-rated door sets with certification, the certification status is stated in writing in the quotation. Door models: wooden interior doors.

When every room is different: how room-by-room production works

  1. Drawings or a dimensioned list. You send your interior designer's drawings, or a room-by-room furniture list with dimensions, plus reference images. We do not prepare drawings; we manufacture to yours.
  2. Itemised proforma. Once drawings and quantities arrive, we prepare an itemised proforma by room type within 1-2 working days; it is valid for 10 days.
  3. Written confirmation. Dimensions, RAL or NCS colour codes and veneer species are confirmed in writing before production.
  4. Production and progress updates. All parts in one colour are made to the same colour code, and veneered parts come from the same veneer batch. We share the production stages in photos and videos.
  5. Inspection and packing. Every part is checked for dimensions and surface quality. Modules are packed flat, numbered and labelled by room number on ISPM 15-stamped pallets or in crates.
  6. Installation. In Turkey, our own team installs. Abroad, your local team installs with our assembly guide and installation video; thanks to the room labels, every package goes straight to its room.

Finishes: lacquer, wood veneer, melamine

The finish drives both the price and how the room looks after years of use. In our price list, lacquer costs more than natural wood veneer, and both cost more than melamine.

  • Lacquer (painted MDF): any colour to a RAL or NCS code, for design-led rooms where colour consistency matters.
  • Natural wood veneer: real walnut or oak grain. When parts come from the same veneer batch, tone differences between rooms are reduced.
  • Melamine (melamine-faced chipboard or MDF): the most economical option, for wardrobe interiors, back-of-house areas and room types on a tight budget.

Vanity unit carcasses are made from moisture-resistant board. Formaldehyde emission classes (E1, E05) and the rules by country: our formaldehyde guide.

Humidity in coastal and island hotels

Wood is hygroscopic: it takes up or releases moisture depending on the relative humidity and temperature of the air, and many problems with wood arise from changes in its moisture content (Glass and Zelinka, 2021). In a seaside or island hotel, or in rooms where air conditioning works against hot outdoor air, this turns straight into complaints: cabinet doors warp and joints open.

For projects like Mauritius, with a long sea passage and a humid climate, three steps are needed:

  1. Checking the moisture content of the wood before production.
  2. Moisture-barrier packaging for sea freight.
  3. Shipping spare parts and fixing accessories with the main consignment.

Lead times, planning and delivery

Lacquer or veneer work on villa and apartment projects takes about 45 working days in production. On hotel projects, production is split into batches by room count and the lead time is stated in the proforma.

Plan backwards from your opening date: take the batch lead time written in the proforma and add drawing approval, shipping and installation. If the batch lead time is close to 45 working days, production alone takes about nine weeks. For a seasonal hotel, the safest moment to order is as soon as the season closes.

Why a Turkish manufacturer for a small hotel

Turkey is one of the G20 countries with a significant comparative advantage in furniture (Üçüncü and Bayram, 2026). For a small hotel in Europe, the practical advantages are short transit times and simple paperwork: goods reach most of Europe by road within a week, and for EU destinations the A.TR movement certificate means no customs duty on furniture, with import VAT paid in the destination country. Small batches are normal for us: there is no minimum room count.

What drives the price

  1. Furniture list per room: which of headboard, wardrobe, desk, minibar unit and vanity are included.
  2. Finish: lacquer, natural wood veneer or melamine.
  3. Number of different room types: every new set of dimensions means separate production preparation.
  4. Tops and extras: marble, porcelain or sintered stone tops, LED, metal details.
  5. Corridor work: whether doors and wall panelling are part of the package.
  6. Packing and delivery: pallets or crates, EXW or DDP.

For detailed projects a technical review fee applies, credited in full against the order. Payment is 40% with the order and 60% before shipment by bank transfer; we do not work with letters of credit.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a minimum order for a 20-room hotel?

No. On hotel projects we split production into batches by room count; this works the same way for a 20-room hotel and for a much larger one. Overseas orders are consolidated to at least one 20' container; to Europe we ship by road.

Our rooms all have different dimensions. Is that a problem?

No. Each room's furniture is made to its own dimensions, the proforma prices each room type item by item, and packages are labelled by room number.

We have no drawings, only reference photos. What should we do?

We can price from a dimensioned list and reference images; production follows the dimensions and details you approve in writing. We do not offer a drawing service, so bespoke and detailed pieces need your interior designer's drawings.

Do you install outside Turkey?

In Turkey, installation is included. We do not send installation teams abroad; parts are numbered and labelled by room, and your local team installs them with our assembly guide and installation video.

Can we see production in person?

Production facility visits are not part of our programme. We share the production stages in photos and videos, and if you are in Istanbul we can meet at our office in Bakırköy by appointment.

Our room doors need a fire rating. Can you supply them?

Our standard interior doors are not fire-rated. If your project requires a fire rating with certification, the certification status is stated in writing in the quotation.

What are your payment and delivery terms?

40% with the order and 60% before shipment, by bank transfer in GBP, EUR, USD or TRY. Prices are EXW Istanbul and the proforma is valid for 10 days; we prepare a DDP freight quote on request. Manufacturing defects are covered for 24 months.
