Who this article is for

- Fit-out and joinery contractors, kitchen showrooms and marble workshops in Doha
- Hotel, lobby and restaurant projects in Msheireb and Lusail
- Turkish construction and contracting companies working in Qatar

The market: Qatar's home sales doubled
According to Knight Frank, residential sales transactions in Qatar rose 114% year on year in the second quarter of 2025: 1,844 transactions worth 9.23 billion QAR, with Doha alone at 3.85 billion QAR. The most expensive apartments are at Lusail Waterfront (15,131 QAR per m²) and Viva Bahriya on The Pearl (14,987 QAR per m²). According to the Real Estate Regulatory Authority Aqarat, The Pearl was Qatar's most traded area in the first nine months of 2025 with more than 2.08 billion QAR, followed by Lusail Zone 69 at 993 million QAR. In the luxury segment, the kitchens, walk-in closets, bathrooms and lobbies of these homes are custom-made furniture and natural stone.
Turkey is the nearest manufacturing country for this market: it is among the G20 countries with a clear competitive advantage in furniture (Üçüncü and Bayram, 2026), the world's third largest natural stone exporter (2.1 billion USD in 2025, Turkish Ministry of Trade), and 3-4 weeks by sea from Hamad Port. In custom furniture, customers value and pay for personalised dimensions, materials and finishes (Lihra, Buehlmann and Graf, 2012); that is exactly what Qatari villas ask for: production to the palace's drawing, not to a catalogue.

Island with turned legs and glass display cabinets; the classic line preferred in Gulf villas.

The right stone and the right finish for the Gulf climate
In Qatar, surface temperatures exceed 45°C in summer and the air is salty. Salt crystallisation is the main cause of flaking in porous stone, and damage increases as evaporation accelerates (Rodriguez-Navarro and Doehne, 1999); strength loss from thermal cycling and salt has been measured in Western Anatolian marbles, and porosity and water absorption are decisive in stone selection (Yavuz and Topal, 2007). The practical conclusion: polished marble is trouble-free indoors; for pool surrounds, terraces and facades, travertine or dense beige limestone with a honed finish is used (Siegesmund and Snethlage, 2014). Accredited laboratory test reports are available for some of our stones.
